History and Community Involvement

Good view of open decks on starboard

Modeled on the original Lake Minnetonka luxury paddlewheeler, the Belle of Minnetonka, a 2000 passenger sternwheeler enjoyed by Minneapolis residents who came by train to summer in the lake, the Lady of the Lake was first christened as Mary Way in 1963. Fifteen years later after she was refitted with new engines she was re-christened as the Lady of the Lake. Since her first cruise on Lake Minnetonka, out of Excelsior Bay, she has played host to vacationers, Arts Festival, and Apple Festival fairgoers. She remains the only triple deck boat on Lake Minnetonka, and has the largest open air deck on the lake.
